Honorific statues in Pompeii and Herculaneum
Caroline Elisabeth Fisker, Ancient History
Fiskers’ project is about honorific statues of benefactors in Campania in the late republic and the early Roman Empire, and how these were experienced by the people who inhabited the cities. Her project focusses particularly on spatial distribution of the statues, and how objects acquire meaning through their setting. In this presentation she will present some of her material and discuss different relevant sources and the challenges related to them.
